Sleep resolution of 2022 - focus on quality and quantity

Did you know, that by 19th of January, many people have already given up on their new year resolutions (1). The problem usually being, that there are too many resolutions or they are not motivated enough.

One of the areas often overlooked, while influencing our quality of life, health, daily performance and even social interactions is sleep. So putting this area in the center of 2022 is a good start for anything.

A good resolution starts with a good motivation letter. How will it improve my life? What happens if I do not achieve set targets? Whats in it for me?

Why is sleep good for me?

With sleep, there are so many reasons to get enough of it for your health, , WebMD listed nine that we found motivating as a base for a set target of more sleep:

  1. Sharper Brain - sleep plays a big part in both learning and memory. Without enough sleep, it's tough to focus and take in new information. Your brain also doesn't have enough time to properly store memories so you can pull them up later.
  2. Mood Boost - as you sleep, your brain processes emotions. When you do not get enough sleep, you tend to have more negative emotional reactions and fewer positive ones.
  3. Healthier heart - your body, including your heart, rests as you sleep. The less sleep you get, the longer your blood pressure stays up during a 24-hour cycle. High blood pressure can lead to heart disease, including stroke.
  4. Athletic achievement - besides robbing you of energy and time for muscle repair, lack of sleep saps your motivation, which is what gets you to the finish line. Proper rest sets you up for your best performance.
  5. Steadier blood sugar - during the deep sleep, the amount of glucose in your blood drops. Not enough time in this deepest stage means you don't get that break to allow a reset and your body will have a harder time responding to your cells' needs and blood sugar levels. Getting enough sleep reduces risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
  6. Germ fighting - to help you ward off illnesses, your immune system identifies harmful bacteria and viruses in your body and destroys them. Ongoing lack of sleep changes the way your immune cells work. They may not attack as quickly, and you could get sick more often.
  7. Weight control - well-rested is less hungry, because being sleep-deprived messes with the hormones in your brain -leptin and ghrelin - that control appetite.

Safe and supporting bed

In addition to sleep, your sleeping environment is also important. For long term usage of traditional bedding, your pillow absorbs environmental allergens (pollen, dust, dandruff, air), with some support from your body liquids and heath, it is a perfect environment for mould, mites, fungus etc. This can result in red or watery eyes, cough or skin issues.

As an alternative, you can use SleepAngel - innovative pillow with a filter. The only bedding range to combine absolute barrier protection with airflow.

SleepAngel bedding products allow only clean filtered air to enter, while blocking out any potential microbial contamination, incl. liquids and viruses.

Life changing for people with allergies and asthma, suggested for anyone, who loves to sleep in a clean, comfortable and supporting environment with minimum effort.
