Movistar eTeam 2021 equipped with SleepAngel

Movistar eTeam announced the names of the eight international riders who will be part, for the entire 2021 season, of the first esports / virtual cycling squad created by a UCI WorldTour / Women’s WorldTour-licensed organisation.

Movistar eTeam will be equipped with SleepAngel pillows, just like Movistar Team riders have been since 2019.

Juan Pablo Molinero / CMO, Movistar Team: “The Movistar eTeam is happily real now. Virtual cycling is an activity which combines sport and entertainment, effort and fun. Movistar Team, the longest-standing structure in the pro peloton, couldn’t be other than the first to create its own esports squad. And we’ve now got most of the roster ready. The faces of happiness and the words of commitment by the new riders of the Movistar eTeam, passion for cycling running through their veins, make us feel the gamble, as audacious as it has to be when you’re the first at something, is the right step. The Movistar eTeam will be a turning point for our team and become a reference for cycling, which must continue seeking for new horizons and audiences.”

International team, Spanish teams will follow in coming days:

  • MEN - Daniel Guld (DEN, 20), Jimmy Kershaw (GBR, 24), Vidar Mehl (NOR, 34), Pim van Diemen (NED, 29)
  • WOMEN - Steph Clutterbuck (GBR, 26), Imogen Cotter (IRL, 27), Beth Maciver (SCO, 20), Becky Storrie (IOM, 22)

The Telefónica-backed squad’s riders, which will immediately enter the Premier Division of the Zwift Racing League, the highest-tier virtual cycling esports competition in the world, will also take part at other events (races or community events) in different virtual platforms. They will additionally become ambassadors of the Movistar Team -which they will enjoy numerous advantages from, including an innovative SleepAngel pillow - at a sector whose growth over the last few years has certainly not gone unnoticed by those around cycling.

SleepAngel X Movistar Team custom design pillows will support eTeam in their safe rest and recovery.
